On today's River Mornings (8-28) With Melissa & Jack:
Olympics in Richmond? -
Gov. McDonnell had an “informal conversation” with the organizers of a bid
to bring the Summer Olympics to Washington and a region as far south as Richmond in 2024. The governor’s office confirmed the contact with DC 2024, the nonprofit organization formed to promote the District of Columbia’s bid, and promised the state’s support. With the Redskins already having visited, the UCI Road Race coming in 2015 and now maybe the Olympics coming, Richmond is exploding. Now we just need David Arquette to come back. Oh wait, we put him in rehab. Nevermind.
A woman in Seattle was supposed to meet a guy for a date on Sunday, but her car broke down. But I don't think he was "the one" anyway, because he reacted by sticking a knife into the side of her house and then threatened to defecate on her couch. Sounds like we need to get these two lovebirds on our Second Date segment!
American Music Fest –

Hollywood Hot Mess –
Alec Baldwin pinned a 60-year-old photographer to the hood of a parked car in New York City's Greenwich Village. Baldwin thought the photographer got too close to his wife. The police arrived, and neither side decided to pursue charges. Another photog tells the Daily News that the paparazzo in this case, Paul Adao, frequently follows Baldwin—closely. The source says, "Most of us keep our distance because it doesn't take much for Alec to get worked up, but Paul was always like two or three feet away from him.” Maybe it’s time Alec take a yoga class –which his new wife teaches – in order to rein in some of this anger. Just sayin’. PS. There are pictures of the beatdown and they're AWESOME!
