Bono's stake in Facebook is about to make him the richest rock star on the planet when the company opens up in the stock exchange.
Bono owns 1.5 per cent of the shares in Facebook through his private equity firm, Elevation Partners. When Facebook goes public, Bono's shares will be worth just under $1 billion.
Bono's firm invested in Facebook in 2009. They paid around $90 million.
Bono could be worth, on paper, as much as $1.1 billion. That's about $300 million more than the current richest rock star, Paul McCartney.
Part of the money Bono is getting is expected to go to some of his charity projects.
